The February 27, 2014, was held in the city of Adana, Turkey, the world premiere of “Color Tango de Roberto Álvarez & Symphony Orchestra” Project by the Cukurova State of Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tolga Tavis.
On March 5, 2015, Color Tango de Roberto Álvarez performed again in Turkey, this time with the Bursa Symphony Orchestra (Bursa Bölge Devlet Senfoni Orkestrasi), performing a concert conducted by guest conductor Stefano Mazzoleni, in the hall “Atatürk Kongre Kültür Merkezi” from the city of Bursa. The hour-long concert was filmed by TRT AVAZ, Turkey’s state television channel, and broadcast in its entirety on the “Klasik Esintiler” program.
Color Tango has appeared as soloist with the symphony orchestra with an original repertoire of songs of Color Tango (both instrumental and sung) especially orchestrated for this symphony orchestral format. The repertoire included both Pugliese classics, such as “A Evaristo Carriego” of E. Rovira, the milonga “Bordoneo and 900” of O. Ruggiero and the waltz “Desde el alma” of Rosita Melo, as well as compositions of the conductor Roberto Alvarez such as “Chacabuqueando”, a tribute to his hometown Chacabuco, the waltz “Maypa” dedicated to his parents, and his newest composition “Tango a Pugliese”.
